Problem
Folktandvården in Östergötland has a tradition of handing out arts and crafts books to kids while visiting the dentist. For several years, the iconic bunny Långöra has been a calming mascot to make dental visits less frightening for kids of all ages. However, Långöra has now grown out of date. And in 2019 the popular painting book ran out of copies. This is where we entered.
Insight
Långöra is an established figure, appreciated by kids all over Östergötland. When the books ran out, the request from kids, parents, teachers, and dentists was big. As we were to update the book to attract the modern kid, we saw a need to make it less instructive – and turn the subject into something fun. Meanwhile, we didn’t want to lose the charm of the original Långöra. We had to modernize with care, without losing essential characteristics.
Solution
We wanted the book to be an encouraging experience, to engage kids in dental care. Together with the talented child book illustrator Ingela P Arrhenius, we updated Långöra in her timeless manner - and created new pottering in colorful illustrations to enhance creativity. Långöra and his arts and crafts book got a fresh update to keep attracting kids while remaining the same knowledgeable mascot that he is.
